Celebrated Parisian courtesan Violetta meets Alfred Germont at a lavish reception. They fall madly in love, and although Violetta hesitates to leave her life of luxury behind, she finally listens to his heart. The newlyweds' happiness is short-lived, however, as they soon have to face harsh realities... Traviata is as intimate as it is sumptuous. It contains some of the most famous melodies in the operatic repertoire and offers an almost starring role for the protagonist, played by the incredibly talented soprano Ermonela Jaho. In the sumptuous world of director Richard Eyre, the tender yet devastating beauty at the heart of Verdi's opera shines through.
